Burnt Butter

Breakfast was to be French toast in the new pan. It ended up being French toast in an old pan. I let the new one get too hot and the butter smoked as soon as it went in the pan. Opening the backdoor and quickly fetching the fan averted a house full of smoke. All of it a little more excitement than I was looking for on a Saturday morning. Anyway, after scrubbing with various ratios of soap and hot water and subsequently putting the pan in the dishwasher it was still covered in burnt fat. The ultimate solution? Salt and lemon juice mixed as a paste and good ol' fashioned elbow grease. The pan is now (mostly) good as new! I should have just used salt from the get go...
